Beautiful 19C shop sign, that would almost certainly have been behind glass originally. Superbly crisp carving, picked out in gold, and if one was cruel enough to segment, gives you HELL and ETC.. both of which might have a certain resonance!
Left in as-found condition, so wear consistent with age.
